MYTHS (BUSTED)

3rd party lab testing & real world data. Neck braces (from all manufacturers) show a reduction in forces to the neck in various scenarios. The real world data backs up these results with statistically overwhelming numbers in favour of neck braces. In over 18 years no repeatable negative data has been produced to counter neck brace manufacturers lab data, or show statistically relevant negative real world results.

False. While we strongly encourage everyone to be all of those things, and they can absolutely reduce the severity of minor injuries like aches and sprains - What they cannot do is eliminate the possibility of catastrophic neck injuries, spinal cord damage, broken bones, etc. Our bodies are soft, squishy, and break when we apply more force than they can handle - regardless of fitness level.

Maybe, but there are no variables we can change (yet) that remove crashes and gravity from the equation. As long as we are crashing, injuries will continue to happen. The only true way to reduce injuries is with better safety equipment - like helmets, neck braces and body protection.

As little as 7 lbs of pressure breaks clavicles, typically applied from the side of the shoulder. By applying force to the shoulder (or an arm sticking out in a crash), the clavicle is often the first to fail. It has been one of the most common motorcycle and bicycle injuries long before neck braces existed. In an ambulance report of over 10,000 injuries, they found 45% less clavicle injuries among neck braces wearers.

Many factors can contribute to your riding style - equipment, bike setup, physical ability, posture, technique, etc. If your Atlas Brace is properly fitted, it should not influence your riding style. If you have a short neck, large helmet, and/or limited range of motion, have had trouble fitting a full-frame brace, or feel your brace is influencing your riding style - try a Vision Collar before putting yourself at more risk by taking it off completely

This shortsighted approach is often pushed by coaches to create the feeling of quick gains to prove their worth, leaving riders in greater risk for life changing injuries. Have your lap times or results immediately improved? Is there any measurable metric that has improved? Likely not.

Part of the success equation is injury prevention and career longevity. What cheaper insurance can you get than quality safety equipment? It might help you get back to work on Monday, or keep you in a championship hunt - both are invaluable.

Flying head first into a jump face is going to hurt no matter how you think it will go. The reality is we have little to no control of our body in most accidents - the best in the world have still sustained severe injuries. Confidence is great, ignoring reality is not recommended.

Us too! That’s why the Atlas Brace™ exists. Early neck braces were not a good experience, and they turned many people away from the category. We encourage you to try a modern brace, like our Air Lite, and if you still struggle with full frame braces, try a Vision Collar

We know, and it pains us to see. Most Pros are highly confident young males ready to take extreme risks, often overlooking the need for injury prevention on their path to success. Older and wiser consumers are just trying to get back to work on Monday and live their lives. Our advice is not to take personal safety advice from Pros. Think about what your personal reward is for the risks - is it millions of dollars, or is it a small plastic trophy?
