Atlas Carbon

!!! AVAILABLE APRIL/2013 !!!

New for 2013, the Atlas Carbon is our feather weight crown jewel. To create a weightless product this elegant we really had to push the limits of innovation. Completely re-engineering nearly every unique feature wasn’t enough, we made it our mission to develop new features that go above and beyond, while obsessively re-imagining the possibilities of simplicity... The result is a 635g beauty that improves upon every single feature we introduced with our original brace to create the most elite product we could ever dream of.

Feather Weight

Weighing in at an amazingly light 635g, this is the lightest feeling flexible high end neck brace available on the market. Period.

All new ERS (Emergency Release System)

All new for 2013, the redesigned Emergency Removal System is an incredible improvement to our revolutionary emergency feature. Emergency removal can now be performed in 3 seconds, with 2 simple steps, and with no loose parts.

  • Grab the right frame so that your thumb is on the red aluminum ERS tab
  • At the same time, push the ERS tab with your thumb, and pull the frame apart. Remove the brace from the user carefully.

New Frame Design

Along with the newly redesigned ERS system, our new frame design allowed us to add innovative and collapsable chin/throat padding to the front of the brace. This padding is designed be there for that "just in case" moment, while being completely camouflaged into the elegant design of the brace.

Re-designed Back Supports

Introducing dual pivoting back supports on the Original brace changed the way people looked at neck protection. Less than one year later, we were able to not only cut the weight of our back supports in half, but add dual flex-tip feature to the bottom of each back support making these the most technologically advanced, and largest surface area back supports in existence.

Reversible CNC'd Rear Mounts

In addition to new back supports, our new reversible rear mounts offer adjustment without the need for an additional set of mounts. Simply loosen the mounts assembled on the brace, rotate them 180 degrees, tighten, and an adjustment has been made. Two sizes built into one mount allows our amazingly simplistic design to become even more user friendly.

Removable Strap Clip System

Brand new optional snap-on strap clips create a free moving, fool proof way to secure the supplied shoulder straps. Best of all, they are completely removable for users who do not wish to use the shoulder strap system. In the event of an impact, these unique strap clips will rotate out of the way to help prevent further injury that static clips can cause.

New Chest Strap

With a completely redesigned brace comes a redesigned way to secure it. We created a new chest strap system with more adjustment, and simplified operation... and just like with our Original brace the chest strap is included with each brace at no charge.

Easy on/off

Simply lower the Atlas Brace™ on/off over your head like a helmet... No flimsy clips or fasteners to hassle with, and no disassembly of the brace is required during regular use.

Simplistic flexible design

The Atlas Brace™ family is the first non-rigid brace family on the market. By creating a simplified design, and allowing the frame to flex upward and downward in the rear, the Atlas brace™ maximizes comfort, minimizes bulk, and reduces the “trapped” feeling that other products can create.

Adjustability

Reversible rear mounts offer multiple offsets for length (chest size), and optional shoulder padding for height (neck length) are both adjustable right out of the box to create a custom fit for nearly every individual.

Dual pivoting back supports

By incorporating dual back supports into the design, the Atlas Brace™ provides greater surface area spread across the back, while transferring loads around the spine rather than directly into it. Increasing surface area helps disperse loads over a larger part of the body, aiming to reduce pressure points in critical areas of the body.

Open sternum

An open sternum area helps transfer the impact around the sternum on a greater surface area of the body, possibly reducing the risk of a fracture.

Chest suspension

The Atlas Brace™ has unique, flexible, leaf spring design chest supports that allow the chest supports to aid in absorbing and slowing down Hyper-Flexion impacts. This promotes further rotation of the helmet, helping to keep the body in motion rather than the head coming to an abrupt stop on impact. This innovative suspension system can also help to reduce some forces transferred through the helmet, head, and chest by distributing them through the brace.

Custom energy absorbing padding

Unique material properties help to disperse energy from an impact before it reaches the body, further reducing smaller injuries such as bruising or muscle fatigue when compared to conventional EVA foams. All padding is water resistant to ensure no added weight, or wet padding during use.

6061-T6 Aluminum hardware

The hardware included on the Atlas Brace™ is fully custom designed, CNC machined from 6061-T6 Aluminum, and anodized to meet the requirements and specifications for this product. All hardware is mounted parallel with specific areas of the body to ensure no bolts are mounted in a way that could puncture the body in a catastrophic crash scenario. Every aspect of the Atlas Brace™ was carefully engineered, that is why simple, cheap hardware from a catalog was not considered as an option.

Mounting options

The Atlas Brace™ can be configured in various ways. Some options include:

  • Full chest strap (included)
  • Under the arms cross straps (included)
  • Stand alone brace with chest protector
  • Chest protector mounted to brace (see user manual for instructions on mounting)

Available in 2 sizes

The Atlas Carbon is available in 2 adjustable sizes, small and medium. The sizes fit the following chest circumferences:

  • Small Brace: 33” - 36” (84cm - 92 cm)
  • Medium Brace: 37” - 41” (94cm - 104cm)

Note: Chest circumference is measured high on the chest, right below the arms.

Two Color Options

The Atlas Carbon exists in White or black.

In The Box

Each Atlas Carbon Brace is packaged with 2 strap systems, 1 hard shell brace bag, 1 optional shoulder padding kit (for height adjustment), and a multi-language user manual.

Sizing Guidelines

The Atlas Brace™ sizing is based on chest circumference (distance around the chest, measured high on the chest, just under the arms). The sizing is as follows:

  • Tyke Brace: 24” - 28” (61cm - 71 cm)
  • Prodigy Brace: 29” - 33” (74cm - 84 cm)
  • Small Brace: 33” - 36” (84cm - 92 cm)
  • Medium Brace: 37” - 41” (94cm - 104 cm)
  • Large Brace: 42+ (106 cm+)

Fitting Guidelines

Optimal brace fitment is achieved by selecting the correct rear mount offset, and opting to use (or not use) the optional shoulder padding for height adjustment that suits your body and range-of-motion of your head/neck, as described in the Atlas Brace™ user manual.

While fitting a brace, there are 2 key steps to follow for length and height adjustment:

1 - While standing straight up, the brace should fit snug on your chest and back, and the shoulder padding should be resting on your body. If the shoulder padding does not rest flush on the body, there will be a gap between the shoulder padding and the body. This shows the brace is too tight on the chest and the rear mounts supplied on the brace should be reversed to change the offset, this will add length to the brace to create a better fit, allowing the shoulder padding to rest on the body as it should.

2 - Once the brace is properly fitted for your chest size, determine which height setting is right for your individual body type and neck length so that you will have proper range-of-motion before starting activity. Put on a helmet to determine which setting is right for you, and if you do not feel your range-of-motion is sufficient, remove the optional shoulder padding from your Atlas Brace™ by pulling down on the outer edge of the bottom shoulder pad. The padding will simply “pop” out of the top shoulder pad. Repeat for the opposite side. Make sure the brace still fits snug on the body, and the shoulder padding is resting on your shoulders.
